Abstract
Workplace Issues are serious and neglected public issue threat
claiming the lives of more than 2.5 billion people a year worldwide. More than
91% of these problems occur in middle and high income countries, which have lot
of offices. This problem is almost two thirds that of theft and well over half
that of abusing, however unlike these public problems, there are no broad
prevention efforts that target workplace issues.
While this report addresses workplace issues in a company, the
particularly workplace issues are high in workplaces where becoming big, expand
and famous. This time the company Ahuru company private limited makes central
focus since this organization is success and one of the leading private company
in the Maldives.
2.
Introduction
Today workplace issues are one of the major problem in the world
which include all the types of abusing, harassment, disrespect, conflict,
lifestyle problems, culture problems, gender difference, miscommunication, age
difference, disabilities, consistency and even more (Stine, 1996) . Every one of three
employers face different types of workplace issues. Only 15% of people are come
forth with the issues. Hence, other 85% of people hide the workplace for
different reasons (Hington, 2006) . There needs to be much more national and
international attention focused on workplace issues, given the limited data
available on its true scale and the heavy toll it takes on families,
communities and economies.
This report aims to galvanize such attention and action by
highlighting how preventable workplace issues are, and how collaboration among the
employers can minimize workplace issues. Scope of this report is to find out
the main workplace issues, causes of the workplace issues, reasons why others
do not help or give power against the workplace issues and things need to be
done to minimize the workplace issues by the help of the survey conduct on
employers of a same company.
All of the employers gave their responsibility on the part they are
needed from Ahuru company private limited. This report is focused on the main
workplace issues in the working environment. In this report, there are details
of methods use to conduct the report, findings or the results of the surveys, full
explanation on the content under discussion and best recommendation to decrease
the workplace issues.
3.
Methodology
In this research report, Survey is done to measure the main workplace
issues. Aharu company private limited assist to take the survey of WORKPLACE
ISSUES. This company contains 39 employers. But survey had taken by 20
employers, because other employers were abroad on a training program and others
were unavailable. Survey is conducted anonymously and confidentially to make
the analysis accurate as possible. According to the book Report Witting in Extend
by William, doing a survey anonymously will bring the hidden information which
will make the report very accurate (William, 2006) .
Questioner given to the employers were same and there are various
types of simple 13 questions per a questioner. In the questioner the optional personal
information is not mentioned to make it more anonymous. This leads them to complete
the survey without any hesitation. Survey is done by individually absence of an
audience. Those factors are important to make the data precise (Shuttleworth, 2008) .
Questioner is divided in to three sections Section A, Section B and
Section C to make it easy for the employer and easy to collect the data
accordingly. Those three sections contain different purpose hidden inside each
section but it cannot be retrieved by the people who answer it. In addition,
the questioner contains 11 close ended questions and 2 open ended questions to easy
collecting data and to get the real feelings of the employers of the company (Shaikh, 2009) . Questioner is designed
and printed on one side of the A4 paper and it is able to have more information
as printed on both side of the paper. That design will make it look simple and it
will not irritate the one who is answering the questions.
After the survey all the data is collected systematically without
leaving a single data and none of the survey form is reformed. Close ended all
questions are categorized and changed into percentage in order to get the
average people opinions. Open ended questions are collected and categorize into
one main opinion in order to make final decision or as main opinion. None of
the opinion or answer left alone in the research paper. Summary if the information
is created and attached in to additional information under appendices.

Findings
First part of the survey Section A includes information about the
job. All 20 employers fill their place in the company, days they worked in the
company, how much they love the company and things they need to full fill from
the workplace. But most of the people never fill the place of salary which is
optional. Yet low level employers share the salary information which below
RF8000. Some of the employers never want to take the survey, because they are
too light on filling the survey. According to the journal article written by James
Harry, there is slightly chance to say that people who do not give the much
attention to the survey might be the people who charge the problems (Harry, 2015) .
Second part Section B of the survey shows that 75% of people face
different types of issues and they are sure about it. Another 25% of people might
not face any workplace issue or they do not want to share it or they are the
suspects in the working environment. Below bar graph shows the main workplace issues
face by the Number of employers.
In the survey form there are five options for the question 8 about
stopping the workplace issues as soon as possible. As expected 25% of people
said Neutral, other 75% of people chosen option strongly agree and other three
options have been left as 0%. Question 9 shows the times employers defend each
other’s or their friends. For easy understanding data has been divided into four
parts. 65% said zero times, 15% of people said one to five times and six to ten
times defended by 20% of employers. There are no one who defend their colleagues
above eleven times. Different people have different reasons to say they could
not defend their friends. Some are afraid to do that, others do not want to get
involve, others do not care about the problems and type of the job do not let them
see those kind of workplace issues.
Third part of the survey Section C question 11 surprisingly shows that
100% of people said yes to stand against workplace issues. In this case this
might be a false information given by the employee. “In a survey a liar might
say that they are not lying instead of saying that they are lying.” (San, 2015) . For open ended
question 12 all the people gave valid reason but some of the people were too
much sided for salary or purpose they need to full fill and others were too
much carried on with their feelings. The last question 13 also got 100% of “I
will” saying that all the members will stop workplace issue in their power
if it come across. But according to the John San it is better to not to jump to
conclusion on a written paper.
5.
Discussion
Survey is taken by different level of employers, the survey shows
that almost all of the employers face different types of workplace issues. But
some of the employers do not want to share their issues at the workplace,
because they think their job may loose if they talk about the issues. In other
hand other people do not want to talk about the issues, because they are
satisfied with their place in the job and high salary of them. Survey shows
that low level employers have lots of problems with their job than high level
employer. Those satisfactions minimize the workplace issues. People who are not
satisfied with their place have more number of workplace issues.
Only 75% of people are facing the workplace issues but logically
almost all of the people have problems or issues in their working environment. Researches
shows that some just lay low because they do not want to get involve with the
problems since their job is too important to leave than coming forth with their
issues. Others never mention those issues because they are working in the
company to get experience.
According to the findings major workplace issues include Disrespect,
Conflict (Racism), Lifestyle, Culture, Gender, Harassment, Communication,
Generation difference (Age), Disabilities and Consistency. From those main workplace
issues Disrespect is one of the major problems among others. After Disrespect other
main workplace issues are Lifestyles, Communication and Consistency. The lowest
work issue is Disabilities. Disrespect, lifestyles, communication and
consistency are main workplace issues, because different people have different
manners in their life. So it is difficult to work in same place as a group since
it is the most of the things which differ from one human to another. The lowest
is disabilities, because people respect disable peoples and disable people have
small population than normal people.
Most of the people strongly agree to stop the issues, because it is
not welcome in any society. Also the one who charge the issues will not want
anything happen to their family or related people. When most of people say they
believe it has to be stop, but they cannot take the action about it. There are
many reasons, such as job risk, new to job, careless, too much busy in the work
and even more. However, all the people want to stop it, they all are standing
or are ready to stand against workplace issues.
100% of people are say that they will defend others from workplace
issues. But it is impossible because they will face many problems when they really
try to stop it. This is one of the reason people cannot stop the workplace
issues without any hesitation. Almost all of the people gave very good and
valid opinions to minimize the workplace issues. Telling to supervisor or
higher level manger is the common opinion from the Aharu company. Some of
others mentioned that they will deal it with themselves but others said that
their friends or managers should check on them and solve the problems. Few of
employers gave opinion to leave it alone or not to mind it.
6.
Conclusion and Recommendation
Issues can be deleted from a place completely if all the people of
that society take every hand in the society and join forces. Without others
help it is impossible thing to accomplish. Because major problems will be easy
to birth but difficult to kill. If anyone shout out loud with workplace issues,
will make lot of problems which cannot be solve too easily.
However, if all are not standing against the workplace issues there
will be no one to stop it. So all of people in the environment should join the forces
to raise their voice. One of the best place “union” will be very helpful to find
the rights of the employers.
Since all the employers are friends to each other they should understand
how they will feel about the issues in the working environment. So all should work
individually to minimize the problems others face, by learning how to behave among
others. Managers of the companies can educate or enroll employers on activities
to make them friendly and active to the work.
The best way to minimize the issues in the workplace environment is
to start awareness programs. These activities will make the workplace friendly
environment by decreasing the issues among the employers of the company. It
will connect the low level employers and high level managers.
All
should stand against the workplace issues, they should raise their voice against
workplace issues and they should take actions against workplace issues as well
as. Then only it will make the workplace as a home, employers as family. No one
will be afraid to live in a loving home with loving family.
